RECTO VERSO by Federica Delia is a laboratory specialized in the conservation and restoration of paper, books, and photographic materials, based in Rome. The studio is equipped with specific tools and equipment for carrying out professional interventions in full respect of the original materials.
Our Vision
RECTO VERSO was established as a space for research, exchange, and sharing, open to colleagues and enthusiasts interested in paper, books, photography, and their conservation. The laboratory presents itself as a dynamic, internationally oriented place where art, history, science, and craftsmanship intersect.
Professional Services
Our studio provides a range of professional services addressed to paper works, books and photographic objects.
Preventive Conservation:
– Monitoring environmental parameters in storage areas or exhibition spaces.
– Consultation on the choice of furniture, enclosures, and boxes for medium- and long-term conservation.
– Re-housing of original materials.
Conservation Projects:
– Development of conservation projects, including a detailed description of an object’s state of conservation and a proposal for intervention, specifying operations and materials to be used.
Restoration Treatments:
– Skillful execution of conservative restoration interventions.
Exhibition Mounting:
– Customized mounting solutions for each artwork displayed.
Condition Report for Transport and Loan:
– Assessment of an artwork’s current conservation status for exhibitions, auctions, transport, or handling.
Photographic Documentation:
– Creation of digital images to document an artwork’s condition (e.g., before, during, or after restoration or exhibition).
Digitization and Photo-Reproduction:
– High-quality digital acquisition using scanners or DSLRs, adhering to international standards.
Emergency Cultural Heritage Recovery in Case of Disaster:
– Management of recovery efforts for archival, library, and photographic materials affected or damaged by exceptional events such as fires, earthquakes, or floods.
